11th-grade students at the European Language Festival

On September 11, 11th-grade students from “Premjers” High School participated in the European Language Festival, where they were able not only to hear the languages but also to try them out in practice, while learning about the diversity of European languages and cultures.

During the festival, students visited booths representing different countries and languages and took part in games, quizzes, contests, and creative workshops. Participants collected stickers for the activities they completed, making language learning even more exciting and interactive.

“Language Date,” or “speak-dating,” sparked particular interest, as it gave students the opportunity to test their foreign language skills, learn new phrases, and practice communicating in various European languages. It was an opportunity not only to apply the knowledge they had already acquired, but also to overcome their shyness and see just how much they could understand and express even in a completely unfamiliar language.

At the festival, students were also able to learn more about the Erasmus+ program and the educational opportunities offered by Latvian universities. The stage program, meanwhile, gave them a closer look at the cultures, traditions, music, and dances of various nations.

Participating in the European Language Festival was a valuable experience that demonstrated once again that knowledge of foreign languages is not just part of the learning process. It helps students learn about other cultures, make new connections, and opens up broader opportunities in education, travel, and future careers.
