National Language Day 2025

2025. On 15 October, ISMA Secondary School “Premjers” celebrated the National Language Day to strengthen students’ understanding of the importance of the Latvian language and to promote love for their mother tongue.
During the lessons, Latvian language teachers organised several educational and creative activities:
📖 Students read, wrote and illustrated Latvian folk songs about the language, thus learning about the beauty and richness of the language.
🌸 Students took part in the creative work “I put flowers of words like flowers in a wreath”, creating a wreath of words from the most beautiful and meaningful words in the Latvian language.
✍️ students wrote a dictation “National Language Day”, promoting a responsible attitude towards the Latvian language and awareness of its importance in everyday communication and cultural heritage.
The aim of the events was to remind that the Latvian language is an asset of every Latvian citizen, which unites, inspires and strengthens our sense of belonging. The day passed in a creative and warm atmosphere, showing the students’ respect and love for their language.
